Varietal & Analysis
Varietal: Syrah
Analysis: Alc. 13.5 % Vol | RS 1.9 g/l | pH 3.6 | TA 5.4 g/l
Origin
Ceres Plateau
Vineyard
Produced from a vineyard in one of the most unique areas in South Africa. Located at an extreme altitude above 1000m, this vineyard is grown on a steep, well drained shale slope that is often covered by snow in the winter months.
Vinification
Grapes were handpicked and cooled overnight. 100% whole bunches crushed by foot and fermented spontaneously in open top fermenters. Extended maceration before being pressed to older barriques for 16 months maturation. Bottled unfined with a light filtration.
Tasting Notes
A vibrant, medium-bodied wine crafted to express the qualities of Syrah grown in a cool climate at high altitude. Pronounced white pepper, orange pith and lavender notes with maraschino cherries and red berry fruits in the background. The palate is vibrant with a firm structure and fine, grippy tannins. The finish is long and dry.
